ELNYA (Emerging Leaders for New York Arts) hosts Creative Conversation
at WNYC’s Greene Space
Monday, June 14, 2010, 6:30 to 8:30 pm

501c3: Is it working for me?

Panelists:
Robert Elmes—Director, Galapogos Arts Center
Marisa Catalina Casey—Founder, Starting Artists
Connie Hall—Founder, Conni’s Avant Garde Restaurant

Moderated by Melissa Dibble of EmcArts.

Description: Is the “standard” 501c3 the only viable model for a creative and artistic enterprise today?  What other models exist and why have some arts entreprenures and artists chosen to go with the 501c3 or chosen another type of structure?  We’ll explore why these three panelists have made the choices they did for their work in the arts and culture field, and we’ll take a look at some of the standard operating assumptions of the non-profit arts organization that are being questioned and even up-ended.
