Innovation a word that's used a lot these days. But what does it really mean, especially for the arts and cultural sector?
At EmcArts, we've surveyed current research and developed a definition:
organizational innovation n. instances of organizational change that:
1. result from a shift in underlying assumptions
2. are discontinuous from previous practices
3. provide new pathways to creating public value
This working definition underpins our many programs and services for local communities, funders and organizations. And, we're pleased that our definition is being adopted in the arts and cultural field.
